Bigleaf Lupine, a native perennial, is commonly found in open grassy meadows, along roadsides and lightly shaded areas where soils stay a bit wetter. It is most noticeable in mid summmer when its flower are bright pruple rising up out of the dense dark green summer foliage. Great pollinator plant that supports to native bee populations. It's an excellent plant for raingardens, woodland gardens and pollinator gardens. Easy to establish and will spread by seed. This is a low maintenence plant that can tolerate sun or shade.

    Size: 3-4' tall, 2-4' spread.

     

    Growing Conditions: Full sun to part shade. Prefers moist habitats and seasonally wet soils, but will tolerate seasonal dryness

     

    Features:  Erosion control, attracts pollinators, raingraden plant.

     

    Natural Habitat: It can be commonly found in moist to wet soils on the edge of woodlands and in meadows. It will grow in many other areas as well as long as the soil is sufficiently moist.

     

    Companion Plants: Red Flowering Current, Golden Current, Tufted Hair Grass, Sedges.
